Kunvay Launches at International Startup Festival

Today we are born!

And here in Montreal in a special NYC Startups tent (courtesy of the Doer Express) we can’t help but exhale a bit and be reflective.

We didn’t make it to launch day alone, and so on this special day rather than repeat what what’s in our cleverly-written press release (you should read it though; yes, seriously, it’s really impressive), I (Reggie Solomon) wanted to thank Ashish Mukharji and Johannes Enders for all of their work and support during these nine months of building Kunvay.

I also wanted to thank my first class development team at 12 Spokes who deliver impressive Ruby on Rails and design magic – thanks Chris Hart, Matt Bishop, Trey Bean, Erin Bean, Ethan Vizitei and Coleen Palmer. More thanks to others to come in future blog posts, but this is a start today.

What is Kunvay?

Nine months ago, we set out on a mission to find a better way to transfer and own creative work.

That journey led us to create Kunvay, the Paypal of copyright and intellectual property ownership (IP) transfer.

With our launch today at the International Startup Festival in Montreal, we make it easy to transact the sale of knowledge work and transfer copyright and intellectual property (IP) ownership online.

Kunvay is where creativity changes hands in an end-to-end transfer process as easy as a click.

As you know, the sale of knowledge work is considerably more difficult to transact than the sale of physical goods due to the legal complexities surrounding the transfer of IP.

Today, many buyers acquire knowledge work without receiving full ownership rights, unknowingly exposing themselves to significant legal and financial risks.

On the flip side, contracting to provide IP transfer can be onerous, often discouraging creators of knowledge work and freelancers from bidding on small projects. Freelancers loose the work, and clients lose the benefit of the freelancer’s creative expertise.

Kunvay Earns Spot on Exclusive Doer Express Selected by Twilio, SendGrid and Microsoft Bizspark

Kunvay was selected from a nationwide competition as one of fourteen startup companies to board the Doer Express.

The Doer Express is an exclusive bus ride from New York City to the International Startup Festival in Montreal.

Selected by sponsoring companies, Twilio, SendGrid and Microsoft Bizspark, Kunvay will get the opportunity to demo in a special New York City startups’ tent at the festival and practice its pitch aboard the Doer Express audience of technical advisors, startup mentors and on-board media including Sean Ludwig of VentureBeat.

The Doer Express kickoffs with an exclusive reception for the selected startup companies at General Assembly featuring a talk from Mackey Craven of Bessemer Venture Partners.
